Abstract:
En este trabajo de Tesis se estudió el comportamiento mecánico y la fractura de diferentes materiales compuestos derivados de recursos renovables. Se analizó el agregado de diferentes refuerzos a una resina termorrígida comercial (Viniléster) a fin de obtener compuestos amigables con el medio ambiente. Esto se logró mediante la introducción al sistema de tejidos de yute y partículas de ceniza de madera. De esta forma, se redujeron las cantidades de material contaminante al final del ciclo de vida del material compuesto resultante.
In this thesis, environmental friendly materials based on a commercial vinylester thermoset matrix were obtained by incorporating natural fibres and flyash particles. Thus, the amount of non biodegradable material is reduced. The first part of the work was the analysis of different synthetic and natural fibres and particulate reinforcements from available literature.
The selected reinforcements were jute fabrics and flyash particles based on the availability of these reiforcements and their low cost. In addition, Fracture Mechanics concepts and failure modes of fibre and particulate filled systems were reviewed.
The second part of the thesis was focussed on the study of different treatments and the effect of these treatments on jute fabrics. The mechanical and fracture properties of the composites obtained with these fabrics were also investigated.
